How to create a Space

Learn how to create a new Space, either as a blank canvas or from a template.

What is a Space?

In Pencil Spaces, a Space is your online classroom with an infinite whiteboard and built-in video conferencing. Spaces can be used for teaching, collaboration, tutoring, or group projects.

Create a Blank Space

You can start fresh with a blank Space:

  1. Click the + Create Space button at the top right of your screen.

  2. Alternatively, use the Create Space entry point in the top section of your homepage.

  3. Once selected, you’ll be redirected to your new Space.

Note: Creating a Space depends on your role. For example, students may not have permission to create a Space. If you don’t see the option, contact your institution administrator or reach out to Pencil Spaces Support.

Create a Space from Templates

You can easily create a Space from our general templates or your institution templates.
