How to use the Document Editor?

Written by Kayla George

The Document Editor is a built-in word processor that you can use to write, format, review, and edit documents together without leaving your Space.

Because the Document editor is part of the Space, your work stays with the rest of your lesson or session. You can return to the same document later and pick up where you left off.

How to access the Document editor

The Document editor is available from the Apps and Tools Library.

  1. Open the Apps and Tools Library from your bottom toolbar.

  2. Find Document in the library.

  3. Select Document to open the editor.

Once the Document editor is open, you can start writing immediately. Everyone in the Space can access and work on the document together. As people type, their cursor indicators show you where each person is working.

You can use the Document editor for activities like collaborative writing, reviewing work, written assignments, or note-taking.

How to format and organize your document

The Document editor includes a range of tools for structuring and formatting your content.

1) Format text

The Document Editor allows you to apply various common types of text formatting, including:

To add more structure or style to your document, you can also:

  • Choose from different fonts

  • Apply different heading styles

  • Align and justify text

  • Add block quotes

  • Add code blocks

  • Insert images inline

These options give you more flexibility when creating everything, from simple notes to content-rich documents.

2) Create lists

You can add different kinds of ordered and unordered lists in the Document Editor, including:

💡 Pro tip: Use task lists when you want to turn a document into a shared checklist or keep track of activities during a session.

3) Add comments and suggestions

When reviewing or developing a document together, you can leave comments and add suggestions.

This makes it easier to give feedback, discuss changes, and work through revisions without marking the document itself.

When a comment has been addressed, you can mark it as resolved to remove it from the document.
