How to adjust video tiles in a one-on-one call?

Pencil Spaces offers two layouts for your self-view during one-on-one calls: Float View and Grid View. Choose the layout that best fits your teaching or collaboration style.

  • Float View places your self-view on top of the other participant’s video tile. This is ideal when using the whiteboard heavily, as it provides more screen space.

  • Grid View displays video tiles side by side or stacked in a standard layout. This works well for lessons where facial visibility is important, such as phonetics or pronunciation practice.

💡 Pro Tip:
Your preferred layout is saved on your current device and browser, even after refreshing or opening a new tab.

This setting only affects your own view. Ask other users to adjust to their preferences as well!

How to Change Your Video Tile Layout

  1. Hover over your own video tile. Click the three-dot icon.

  2. Select:

    • Move self view to grid to switch to Grid View

    • Float self view to switch to Float View depending on your current layout.
