If you're speaking, Pencil Spaces will show that it detects your audio by displaying the blue speaker indicator.

If you’re unmuted but don’t see this indicator, Pencil Spaces isn’t detecting audio from your mic.

Try the steps below to fix it:

Disabling hardware muting

Some laptops and headsets have a physical mute button that overrides software settings.

  • Laptops: Look for a mute key on your keyboard (often in the Function row). You may need to press Fn + a function key to unmute.

Video Conference Mute: Toggle using caps lock key · Issue #18524 · microsoft/PowerToys · GitHub

  • Headsets: Check for a mute switch or mic button. A red LED usually means muted.

Increase your microphone volume

Your mic may be enabled but set too low.

  • Mac: System Settings → Sound → Input → Increase input volume. Learn more.

  • Windows: Check your microphone input level in Sound Settings. Learn more.

Make sure your voice is registering when you speak.

Reconnect your audio device

If you’re using an external mic or headset:

  • Unplug and plug it back in

  • For Bluetooth devices, disconnect and reconnect

Change your mic

Your browser may be using the wrong microphone. Try switching to a different mic from the audio settings menu. Learn more.
