If you ever receive the following error code (err_ssl_version_or_cipher_mismatch) on your internet browser after trying to access Pencil Spaces, there is an SSL error present. Fortunately, this error can be cleared easily by following a few simple steps.

1. Use Google Chrome

First and foremost, please try switching to Google Chrome if you were previously using another browser. Pencil Spaces is best supported in Google Chrome, so your first step when experiencing any issues should be to try again in Google Chrome.

If the error message continues to appear, proceed with the steps below.

2. SSL Update

If you've scoured the Internet for ways to fix this issue, you may have come across several websites pointing you toward "Advanced Settings" within Google Chrome itself. However, Chrome's "Advanced Settings" tab does not exist in more recent versions, nor within any experimental feature settings that you can toggle on/off in the browser.

As a result of this change, please refer to the respective steps below to clear your SSL state, depending on which operating system you currently use.

3. Clearing the SSL State On Windows

  1. Open the "Start" menu by clicking the "Windows" icon on your computer.

  2. Navigate to the search bar, and enter a search query for "Internet Options." Open the "Internet Options" menu.

  3. Within the menu, navigate to the "Content" tab.

  4. Click the "Clear SSL State" button.

4. Clearing the SSL Stae ON Mac

  1. Navigate to the upper right corner of Google Chrome and click the "Menu" icon (3 dots). Once the menu is open, hover your mouse over "More Tools."

  2. Within the next pop-up menu that appears, click "Clear Browsing Data."

  3. Within the "Time Range" selector, please select "All Time."

  4. Ensure the checkboxes beside "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" are checked off.

  5. Click the blue "Clear data" button at the bottom right corner of the menu.

5. Need More Help?
