Pencil Spaces

The Lead feature lets hosts guide what participants see on the whiteboard. When you’re Leading, others’ views will follow your viewport as you move around the canvas, helping everyone in the session focus on what you’re doing.

Go to the board or part of the canvas you want everyone to focus on, then click the Crown icon in the upper-left corner of your Space.

Once Lead is active, the Crown icon will turn blue, indicating that you’re Leading the Space.

To stop Leading, click the Crown icon again. The icon will return to its normal state, and participants will regain independent control of their views.

You can set Lead to activate automatically whenever the first host joins a Space:

From your homepage, select Settings in the left-hand panel.

Navigate to Permissions, and click the Inside Spaces tab.

Under Leader Mode, select Default On, then click Update.

Lead will now activate automatically when the first host joins the Space.

How to request another host to stop Leading

When multiple hosts are taking turns Leading in the same Space, another host can request that the current host stop Leading. 

Click the Crown icon in the upper-left corner of your Space.

From the Lead menu, select Request to stop Leading.

The host who is currently Leading will receive a notification that you’ve requested them to stop Leading.

The current host can choose to Accept or Reject the request:

- Accept: They stop Leading, and you can Lead the Space.
- Reject: They continue Leading as before.

 The current host can choose to Accept or Reject the request:

Note: Only a host can request a fellow host to stop Leading. Participants cannot make this request. If you want to Lead in a Space as a participant, you’ll have to request the host of the Space to promote you to host as well.
