1. The Basics

In order to access screen-sharing abilities, the user must first start or join the call. To learn more about starting or joining a call, you can view the following Article: Starting or Joining a Call in Pencil Spaces.

Below your video feed at the top right of your screen, you'll see a set of video controls.

  1. Click on the Screen Share Icon as shown below and wait for a pop-up to appear.

  2. You'll see a pop-up on your screen asking you which screen you want to share. You can choose between your entire screen, a specific window, or a specific tab in your browser if you are using Chrome.

  3. Click on the screen you want to share with your participants and click the "Share" button on the bottom right corner once it turns blue.

  4. Once you click share, you'll see another box pop up next to your video at the top of the screen where your screen share is visible. Below that, you'll see a blue screen share icon with a stop button next to it, indicating that your screen share is running.

It's important to note that Pencil Spaces supports multi-screensharing. This means that you can have more than one active screenshare at one time, so multiple participants are able to share their screens simultaneously.

2. How do I expand a screen share?

You can learn how to switch between the whiteboard, gallery, speaker, and full-screen view in this Article: Video Views in Pencil Spaces.

3. How do I stop sharing my screen?

  1. Below your video tab, you can click the blue screen sharing button, which will open up a pop-up tab.

  2. Then, click "Stop screen sharing" to stop sharing your screen. After that, the blue indicator will disappear.

  3. If you're in a fullscreen video view, navigate to the bottom bar, and repeat steps 1 and 2.

4. How to share your audio while screen sharing

With Pencil's latest update, you can now share your audio with participants while you screen share. This can be really helpful in a scenario where want to have your participants watch an instructional video on a call.

  1. To share your audio with participants, first, click the "Share screen" button at the bottom of your participant box.

  2. Then after you locate the screen you wish to share, make sure the "Share tab audio" box is checked off. When this is on, participants will be able to listen to the audio of your screen share.
