Institution templates allow your institution to create a set of Spaces that a member of your team can quickly duplicate and use. For example, you can create an template for a Maths lesson based on your institution's curriculum - any Maths teacher in your institution can then duplicate this Space in one click and work through it with their students.
A couple of things to note:
There are two types of templated Spaces. General templates are managed by Team Pencil, and institution templates are entirely managed by your institution
Only institution admins can mark a Space as a template. Similarly, only users who have access to create Spaces in your institution can duplicate a Space from the institution's template gallery
If you update the master template, existing Spaces copied from that template will not be updated. Your new changes will apply only to Spaces duplicated from that template from that point onwards
Adding a Space as a template
To add an institution template, you'll need to be an Institution Admin and the Space you wish to mark as a template will need to be owned by your institution.
You can make an existing Space a template by:
Clicking "View details" on the relevant Space
βSelecting "Submit as template" from the available options
βNaming the template, assigning an icon, and clicking "Submit"
You'll now see the template pop-up in the templates menu
βOnce a Space is marked as a template, the original Space (the "master" Space) will have a special "Template Space" tag added to it. Whenever you make edits to this Space, any new Space that is created from this template will also incorporate these new changes.
Removing a templated Space
