  • What are Custom External IDs?


    Custom External IDs allow institutions to create unified profiles for users, making it easier to manage user data and improve the user experience. As organizations grow, Custom External IDs help scale operations by organizing users more efficiently. They also enable more accurate tracking of user interactions across the platform, simplifying user management in a way that aligns with your institution's workflow.

    For example, you can assign a Custom External ID to a user and easily track their interactions across various systems, helping you manage access, roles, and permissions with ease

  • How can I configure Custom External IDs?


    If you're an institution admin, you can configure Custom External IDs by following the steps below:
    ​

    1. Go to the Profiles or People section in Pencil Spaces. To make changes, click on the edit button in the right corner.
      ​

    2. To make changes to the External ID, click on External ID section. You will see a type indicator here.
      ​

    3. Make the required changes and click on Save changes.
      ​

    4. Please Note: External IDs can only be created and edited by institution admins. Site admins, tutors, students, or personnel do not have the required permissions here to make changes to external IDs.
      ​
