We're excited to partner with TutorCruncher to serve the needs of tutors both inside and outside the classroom.
With the TutorCruncher integration:
You and your students can log in to Pencil Spaces directly from TutorCruncher.
A Space is automatically created for every lesson scheduled in TutorCruncher.
Setting things up
Before you begin, check if you already have a Pencil Spaces account connected to the same email as your TutorCruncher account.
If you don't yet have a Pencil Spaces institution
Follow these steps only if:
You don’t yet have a Pencil Spaces account, or
You have an account but you’re not a Pro user and don’t yet have an institution.
You can verify this by visiting my.pencilapp.com. If the top of the page says “Pencil Spaces” (as shown in the screenshot), then you don’t yet have an institution.
Sign into your TutorCruncher account. Navigate to System > Settings > Integrations and select "Online Integrations"
Select "Pencil Spaces" and click "Add integration"
An account will be automatically provisioned for you and you should see the following success notification
You're all set-up. There are now two ways to get started with the Pencil Spaces <> Tutorcruncher integration.
SSO-based log-in: Simply click "Pencil Spaces" on the left hand side of your screen (as in the screenshot below). You and any student who clicks the button will be automatically logged-in and sent to https://my.pencilapp.com/spaces
Automatically create a unique Space for each job: We also support automatically generating a Space for each job, which means you and your student do not need to share any links to start a session on Pencil Spaces. This requires a bit of configuration - you can learn how by visiting Automatically generate Spaces for each Lesson
If you already have a Pencil Spaces institution
Only Institution Admins can set up the integration. To confirm if you’re an admin, check if you see the Analytics section at my.pencilapp.com.
If you’re not an admin, ask your institution admin to complete setup.
If you have not yet set-up TutorCruncher, you can set-up your account by following the process outlined in "If you don't have a Pencil Spaces account".
If have you already set-up a TutorCruncher integration in the past, you will need to contact Pencil Spaces Support - we'll configure things for you.
If you are a single-seat Pro user
We’re excited to have you try our integration! Since you’re on a legacy plan, some configuration is needed before you can get started.
Please contact Support and we’ll set everything up for you.
Automatically generate Spaces for each Lesson
Spaces are designed to be reusable across multiple lessons.
By default, we create one Space for each job. If you prefer one Space for each lesson, contact Support and we can set this up for you.
To begin, we need to configure Pencil Spaces to be your default Online integration for jobs in Tutorcruncher. To do this:
Go to System > Settings
Go to 'People and Activities' and select 'Activity'
Select "Pencil Spaces" as your "Default Online Integration" and click "Save"
You're all set-up! To verify that everything is working correctly, create a new Job and create a new Lesson scheduled in the future.
Please make sure the Lesson is an online appointment (e.g., do not select a particular location for that role)
After you event is created, click "More details" and then "Pencil Spaces" as in the screenshot below
You and any of your students will automatically be logged in, and will be navigated to a Space set-up specifically for that Job
