Annotating on top of a screenshare allows teachers to make their lessons more interactive, sparking active learning within their virtual classroom.

To annotate on top of a screenshare, start by sharing the screen you would like to annotate. To learn more about how to share your screen, please read the following article: Screen Sharing in Pencil Spaces.

Once, you’ve shared your screen, hover over your screenshare image and select the three dots that appear.

From there, a dropdown menu will appear. Select “+ Insert video to board”.

From there, your screenshare will appear on your whiteboard. You can then use your whiteboard tools to annotate on top of the screen share.

The screenshare can be resized and moved around. When you add your screenshare to your whiteboard, it becomes an object on your board.

Pencil Spaces supports multi-screensharing. This means you can place multiple screenshares on your whiteboard at once.

Following the same process, you can also place participant video feeds on the board.

It’s important to note that if you stop screensharing, your screenshare will automatically be removed from your whiteboard. In order to place it back on the board, you will have to begin screensharing again and follow the same process.
