Table of Content

On the Spaces Home Page, you're displayed a list of Spaces you have access to. These can be Spaces you've created, you're a host of, and Spaces you're a participant in. Each Space is given its own individual row, and you're displayed important information about each Space without first needing to join the Space.

Locating the Space you want to join

If you look at the left-hand side of your Spaces under the “NAME” column, you'll see the names of each Space you have access to.

Easily locate the exact Space you're looking for by searching for it using the Spaces search bar. To learn more about how to search for a Space, please read the following article: How to Search for a Space in your Spaces Home Page.

Viewing the Privacy of a Space

On the left-hand side of a Space under the “NAME” column, you will either see a lock icon or a globe icon. The lock icon means that the Space is currently private, and the globe icon means that the Space is currently public. The privacy of the Space can be altered once you join the Space. To learn more about private and public Spaces, please read the following article: Public vs. Private Spaces.

Looking at who has access to your Space

All the Spaces on your Home Page are Spaces that you have either created or someone has given you access to. To discover how many people currently have access to a specific Space, look under the “NAME” column of the Space. The number beside the participant icon is the number of people that have access to a Space. To learn more about how to give someone access to a Space, please read the following article: How to Invite People to Your Session.

If you would like to see the names of the users with access to your Space, just hover over the participant icon and a dropdown list will appear.

Finding the hosts of a Space

Hosts have a greater number of capabilities within a Space including the ability to upgrade a participant's status to a host. You can have multiple hosts within a Space. To find out the host/s of a Space, look under the “HOST(S)” column. It will tell you both the name of the original host/creator of the Space, as well as how many hosts there are for that Space.

Monitoring who is active in a Space

To understand who is currently active in a Space, look under the “STATUS” column. You can distinguish who is just in the Space from those who are in the Space and on a video call through our presence indicator. To learn more about our presence indicator, please read the following article: How to use the Presence Indicator in Pencil Spaces.

Copying the Space link

If your Space is public, anyone with the link can access it. To copy the shareable link, click the link icon on the right-hand side of the Space.

Inviting participants to a Space

To invite someone to your Space, select the invite icon on the left side of your Space. From there, you can individually invite participants by name to join you in that Space.

Joining a Space

To join a Space, just click the blue “Enter Space” button found on the right side of the Space you would like to join.

Creating a Space

To create a Space, click the blue “+ Create Space” button found at the top right corner of your screen.

From there you will be taken to a new Space which will automatically be given a name from a randomly chosen planet and color.

Renaming, Deleting, and Duplicating Your Space

If you have created a Space, you have the ability to rename and delete the Space without first needing to enter it. It is important to note, this can only be done if you're the creator of the Space.

To do so, hover over the Space you have created until you see a button with three dots.

Click on the button with three dots, and a dropdown menu will appear giving you the option to rename, duplicate, or delete your Space.
