Sets are an extremely useful tool offered in Pencilā€™s Learning Management System that allows you to group your digitalized content. You can upload any Questions or Notes to Pencil and keep your content organized by adding them to Sets. All this can then be found in your digital content library and brought into your Space. Welcome to the future of education!

Creating a Set

To create a Set, go to your Pencil Homepage and select the course you wish to create a Set for.

Then click the ā€œSetsā€ button found on the top bar.

If you have created Sets before, you will be displayed a list of your existing Sets. To create a new Set, click the blue ā€œ+ Create setā€ button found on the top right-hand side of your screen.

You will be asked to give your Set a name and fill out a description. Once you are satisfied with the details you have added, click the checkmark to create your new Set.

Once your Set is created, you can now start adding content to it!

Adding content to your Set

Questions and Notes that you create for your course can all be added to your Set. To add a Note or Question to your Set, first, locate the content you wish to add and check off the box found beside it.

Then click the ā€œAdd to setā€ button found on the top toolbar.

You can either directly create a new Set there, or add your Question or Note to a preexisting Set by searching for it using the search bar.

Once you have found your Set, check off the box beside it and your content will automatically be added.

Questions can be taken straight from your textbooks and digitalized into your very own content library! To learn more about how to create Questions in Pencil, please read the following article: How to Create Questions in Pencil.

Notes can be created within a Lesson or on their own. To learn more about how to create Notes, please read the following article: How to Create Notes for Presentations.

A variety of different content can be added to your Questions and Notes to make to content more engaging to your students. This includes images, videos, URLs, and PDFs. Bringing your Set to your Space

Uploading Sets to your Space is a great way to involve your students in a more interactive form of learning. Watch as they review Notes and answer Questions, all while you can track their progress!

To learn more about how you can track your students' progress with Pencilā€™s Analytics feature, please read the following article: Getting Started with the Intelligent Library (Using Analytics).

To upload a Set into your Space, you first need to open your Space and access your digital library.

Once you have opened your library, choose which course you would like to pull content from, and click the ā€œSetsā€ button found on the top bar.

From there you can search for your Set.

Once you have found your Set, you can click on it to reveal the content you have added. You can either pick and choose which content from the Set you wish to add to your Space by individually checking off the boxes beside each piece of content, or you can insert all the content by checking off the ā€œSelect allā€ box.

Once you have checked off your content, click the ā€œOpenā€ button to have all Questions and Notes brought to your Space, each added to their own individual board.

From there your students will be able to directly interact with your content for a more well-rounded learning experience!
